I’m not sure if this is the right place to discuss, but my points aren’t increasing despite regular contributions.
I’ve felt this was the case for a long time - like I always seem to be around the the mid 4,000s - but it was only when I took a screenshot of my points balance a couple of weeks ago that I realised my points balance hasn’t been increasing. I also remember from a while back that I seemed to loose a few hundred points in one go, but it hasn’t been regularly decreasing so I just dismissed it.
I’ve been answering a lot of “Can you answer questions about this place?” pop-ups, and also noticed that at the end of each series of questions I’m displayed a points score saying I’ve earned 12 points… every time. But my balance isn’t increasing.
(Apologies for the very minor issue when you consider what’s happening around the world at the moment!)
Just as an aside, I’ve did a fair bit of searching before I posted this. I appear to be in a ‘Help Desk’ area but I feel like the topics and prompts are not about actual issues and troubleshooting, so if I’ve found the wrong place I’d appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.
I find that the most effective way to get yourself known is by looking at your GPS timeline and make evaluations and add pictures. I’m not sure if this is what you are looking for but I got to Level 6 pretty fast. I don’t know where the points are. I have received over 50,000 views. Entering places, comments and pictures has done it for me.
Please check your My Activity page and you’ll be able to see answers you shared and control what is saved:
If you have the 3 month/18 month deletion enabled, it will delete the answers to questions about places for that period.
If you delete answers to questions during any time frame, they will be deleted from Google Maps, and as a result, your Local Guides points will be removed for those contributions.
Also sometimes there might be a belated synchronization of your points, so if you notice this happening, force log-out of your profile, clear the maps history, cache and any saved cookies and try logging in again.
When you have a question, you can start a new post or search if there is something similar to what you are asking already on Connect. Since your post is not related to the label you wrote on, I moved it to how-tos because it fits better there.
Ah interesting, thank you. I did have ‘auto delete’ on for Google activity over 3 months old. I wasn’t aware this also affected my contributions. I’ll look into this but suspect this may be the answer. Thank you for your help.
It would be really helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply.
And we will know instead of guessing which reply you are responding to.
It has been more than a week. My points are not rising from 11,857 though I have been contributing daily. Is this issue with everyone or only me? I need your help LGs. Please.
Can you tell something more about the type of contributions?
My experience is, credit of points for successful edits and place creations takes a little more time as compared to that for adding reviews or photos. Hence the query.
Hey dear @Bipin0610 , don’t worry about adding the points. Your points will add very soon. Don’t get discouraged. Contribute your reviews and information like adding photos, edits , etc. I too faced same problem for nearly one month. But got all the points at a time. Continue your contributions. Hope you like my reply.
Please allow some time for synchronization and if there is a bigger delay, you can tag me to look into it. However, this is not unusual as the system may take some longer time to replicate.
