My participation in the event organized by Google Russia & Monogoroda.RF

Hello Local Guides!

Last week I was in Moscow and took part in the event organized by Google Russia and the Monogoroda.RF devoted to the development of tourism industry in Russia with the help of modern technologies, including summing up the results of the project “Proshagaj Gorod”.

In Russia, since February 2019, the project “Proshagaj Gorod” has been launched, which helps monocities to attract tourists by applying objects on Google Maps. In less than a year, the project “Proshagaj Gorod” was joined by over 170 participating cities, 11 of which are major regional centers. During the project more than 4 thousand new objects were registered on Google Maps. Of these, more than 700 points are the subjects of small and medium-sized businesses in monocities. As a result, in the cities participating in the project the load of hotels has increased by 4%, museum and exhibition attendance - by 15%, and attendance at city events - by 17%.

In general, interest in monocities in Russia increased by 11% according to 2018-2019, while the participating cities of the project - by 22%.

As for me, I spoke about my experience of using Google Maps. After all, Google Maps in Russia are the main source of information for foreign visitors to our country. For example, Google Maps were very popular among fans in the last FIFA World Cup Russia. It’s great that project participants of the “Proshagaj Gorod” learned how to use Google Maps and how to become a member of Local Guides community. This year this project will be in my hometown Ekaterinburg. So, I will be very pleased if my region attracts more tourists, who will see the beauty of Urals.

In addition, I would like to note the incredible organization of the event itself. We can see that the organizers (Google Russia, VEB.RF, Monogoroda.RF) like their work and treat this project with great soul and love. Special thanks to Google Russia for a tour of the chamber office, which is made in style of Russian fairy tales.

Saludos Farid.

This is beautiful .I like the wind of change blowing in Russia. Google is doing it rightly by creating awareness about the map application and it usefulness . As Russian open up to the world more and more tourist will be visiting the country ,they will surely rely on their Google map to navigate the country. That is why event like this is necessary from time to time.
