As I have mentioned in my application video I really started using Google Maps extensively only after moving to a new city of Pune from my hometown Kolhapur in the year 2015. I found it immensely helpful and was marveled by how convenient and easy to use it was. I was generally always on time for any worked related visit at a location I didn’t know; and the reviews written by various people helped me in finding exciting and refreshing new places I could visit on weekends with my family.
This is what motivated me to write reviews for different places I visited in Pune for the benefit of others like me. Being an enthusiastic explorer myself, I visited various places like Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple, Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum, Katraj Lake, Saras Baag, Taljai Hills, Iskon Temple, Jagdamba Bhawan and many other such locations in Pune and in the vicinity of Pune and I shared my reviews on these places on Google Maps. The positive response that I got from my fellow Google Maps users inspired me to write and contribute even more.
My family shares my love for travel and we arrange a tour every year to a different location throughout India. In the December of 2016, I, along with my family visited the state of Kerala in India and on my family’s encouragement I wrote reviews on the various destinations to visit in Kerala and the Hotels we stayed in during our visit. I started sharing about my various tours and this added to my contributions on Google Maps. The sphere went of expanding.
I think Google Maps brings about the level of transparency which enables a person, like me, to walk through an unknown road and reach to an unknown new place without concern or doubt. It helps people roaming around in different areas to not be duped or taken advantage of by ill-spirited locals and at the same time appreciate and learn everything you want to know about the place. It gives me immense pleasure to be able to contribute my small part in helping the community through Google Maps and I am eternally grateful.
