It started as a fun way to add to the community and has grown into a bit of a hobby. Reviewing restaurants is so much fun for me, not only because I enjoy traveling and finding new interesting spots to try but also because I LOVE food! My husband and I started a blog several years ago to share our reviews and favorite spots, but reviewing on Google Maps helps to reach more people and it’s a bit easier to do! Now we are considering redoing that blog and linking out to the reviews I’ve done on Maps.
My friends have also now caught on. I was inspired to do this post this morning (even though it has been waiting for me for the Connect Live contest) because a friend texted me and asked how she c
ould get started. Apparently she had been looking through some of my reviews for a town she’s about to visit and wanted to do some of her own. A double bonus of my friends being involved in my obsession is they send me new restaurants to try! Because if this same friend, I was able to find a new local restaurant and we went there together to try it out and take pictures!
I also love that when I go anywhere with a group of people, someone in the group always says “Wait! Julie needs to get a picture for her reviews!” And then, even better, they say “make sure Julie gets to taste your meal!” Pulling in a big group is always great because I get to taste 10 or more dishes in one meal! It’s wonderful!
It’s a great extra activity to do while out enjoying life. And the added bonus of being a local guide and receiving a few extra benefits here and there is the icing on the cake!
