It was around the same time that I became an avid golfer. My interest grew for golf as I traveled to the United States and even the world playing at the most fun golf courses. I thought, with such a great platform, why not help other golfers connect to their favorite course and maybe even guide people to find a passion/hobby?
That is how I started to review almost every single golf courses I have ever been to, pouring my heart and honest opinions into each sentence. I soon realized the lack of reviews and photos that even the most popular golf courses have. Ratings of golf courses are mostly passed on orally which is why the internet has so little information on the sport as compared to the other ones. By many who do not play, golf is seen as a traditional and even out of time sport. I aim to convince the world otherwise and modernize the way golf is presented on the internet. How are other golfers able to identify new and interesting courses if, like me, they love to travel and discover?
I started my process by reviewing or submitting photos for all the courses near me that I was familiar with. I knew every nooks and crook of these courses and I tried to stay consistent with all my methods of reviewing. Oak Creek, Tustin Ranch, Newport Beach Golf Course…etc. My love for golf continued to grow and what surprised me is that I actually fell in love with the process of being a local guide. The satisfaction and reward that I gained by being able to help people through the internet drove me to review more than just golf courses.
Just a few months ago, I went on a road trip from Massachusetts to California. I documented every step of the way leaving photos and reviews for hotels, attractions. Many of my reviews are in Chinese because as someone who is bilingual, I understand the struggle of Chinese tourists when visiting a place all the way across the ocean from home while not being able to understand the language. I hope my detailed reviews can help them to find comfort and guidance in their journey.
Being a Local Guide allows me to document the precious memories that I have created along the way and links communities in ways that were previously unimaginable.
I will continue my work in the future. I am excited to see the challenging and uncharted territories that it could bring me and my community as the platform develops.
