Local guides are definitely making a global impact but what are they getting out of it for themselves?
This is a question that comes into mind of almost all the Local Guides at some point. After regularly contributing for over an year, I have found my answer.
They say that you owe back to the society. Everyone has their own ways of contributing to the society. Some may feed the strays and some may adopt them, some may plant the saplings & some water those, few might pay NGOs and few will help the needy ones directly. One might be confused where to start from but when the technology is in your pocket, you can start from wherever you are!
Contributing as a local guide is to empower travelers & locals to help them find what they want with a human touch rather than just a location on the map. So coming back to the big question, what do I get out of it?
The sense of satisfaction to make the world a better place. The feeling of pride when your contributions are appreciated and liked by the people. Recognition from Google as a Local Guide with the badge reflecting your contributions definitely doesn’t go unnoticed by the users.
