My most interesting experience as a Local Guide

While most of my posts are about local businesses, I have to admit my highlight as a guide was when travelling through Taiwan. Google Local Guides gave me the opportunity to review the location of a natural hot spring and write a literal guide to get to it.

Before that I had mostly used the platform to read reviews on restaurants and bars. While there we ran into bad weather and our itinerary changed. We had to find something else to do.
After rummaging about on Google Maps we stumbled upon this specific place.
Using prior reviews as a guideline we made our way through the wrecked country (after some major landslides and earthquakes) and got to where we needed to be. With it being a completely different season than those Local Guides before us had experienced, our trip had a vastly different feel to it.

Shamefully unprepared we made our way down to the river. Turned out this river had matured as well.
Long story short, it was an exciting experience and it felt worthwhile reviewing the journey to prepare other travellers for the different conditions this spot can exhibit.

After the trip it became clear to me how a single review can help others around you, rather than just being your standard 4 star rating and a photo of a coffee. Ever since I’ve been trying to review my experience in a similar, functional way.

Hi @SuitedForStefan ,

I’d like to let you know that I’ve moved your post to Local Stories, as it looks like an application post and it belongs there.

If you need some tips on how to create it, please check out the How to write a great application post for Connect Live 2020 and Connect Live applications are now open posts.
