Ergon House is such a breath of fresh air! This great hotel concept combining a Hotel with a Deli / Restaurant is pure genius. At the main entrance you are faced with a cafe siting area where people can have coffee, breakfast or lunch. Further down you find the main deli area, all equipped with a fresh Bakery, Delicatessen, Grocery, Butchery, Fishmonger and a large restaurant area. Ergon sells a variety of premium organic products to choose from. This is a foodie’s paradise Hotel slash Restaurant.
Although Ergon started as a Deli - Cafe, In Athens it has transformed into a boutique Hotel also. Entrance located right by the side of Grocery section, just up 1 floor to the reception area.
The concierge personal is one of the friendliest I’ve met. Helped us with early check-in by 3hrs which was very nice of them.
We then faced our room! Just walking the corridor towards the room, we had a clear sense of what was to come. The hotel had a fresh fragrance off Greek mastic.
The room was such dream room. We could live there forever. Even though the hotel is just 2 months old, you can tell the owners are serious on hospitality. Sparkling clean room and bathroom, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The mini bar was packed with goods you find from there deli products downstairs. The coffee area had a selection of Ergon Foods products. Coffee and Water are complimentary, but I have to say, they had a price-list of minibar and snack bar, and no overcharge like other hotels. Prices were based on the prices from downstairs.
First time in my life I wasn’t intimidated from using the in-room bar.
The Nespresso compatible machine was a treat, and the coffee & tea capsules, I think branded by them, were awesome.
One day we came back to our room maybe minutes after the cleaning personal had done our room, and we couldn’t believe the fresh aroma of freshly mopped parquet, they used mastic water to mop. Amazing.
Now for the good stuff!! In the morning we went down to the restaurant from our complimentary breakfast, which is included as a standard at Ergon House.
No breakfast buffet here. We sat at the restaurant table and the friendliest restaurant staff welcomed us with water and the a-la-cart menu to choose whatever we wanted! YES, whatever they offered in the walking breakfast/brunch menu, we were allowed to order!
I vowed never to miss a breakfast for the 4 days I was to stay here. ?
Now the food! This is not just ordinary food; this is 5 start brunch place quality. *see photos. The Thessaloniki koulouri with pouched eggs are to die for. Wish I had ordered from day 1. As for the freshly cooked cream bouyatsa, I have to admit, had one every day!
So, if you haven’t realized, this is the place I’m going to be staying when in Athens. Its location is the in the heart of Athens shopping and eating district, 2 minutes walked from Ermou, and 4 minutes from Monastiraki. Already telling all my friends and family only to book here, and give me a reason to visit Athens more often! Congrats to the friendly staff for making our stay the best ever. Without them the experience would just be a great one at a new hotel, but was so much more. One final note, the have the Ergon Foods brand in Thessaloniki also, and wait for it, London as well just off Regent Street! Now I know we’re to brunch when in London. And soon in my home country of Cyprus!! Cant wait!
