Today, I am here to write about the most interesting thing I’ve done as a Local Guide, something that I have as my personal mission that is to Take and Share the Best Pictures with great value to our community of Local Guides.
Since I was a teenager, I had two passions: to look for new and interesting places and take a lot of Pictures of those new discovers.
Google Maps and the Local Guide Comunity allowed me to transform, what was once a hobby, into a new way to improve my skills as a photographer and contribute to improve local business and its interactions with its customers.
It does not matter if I am going to take a selfie using an action cam, walk around with my phone or my DSLR, I just want to give my best to show my point of view of the world to our Local Guide Community.
And I am always doing that with a simple but very efficient strategy: take the most creative possible picture or one with great value to the visitors.
Let me explain with some examples:
A few months ago, a new restaurant was opened in town, the “East Asia + Hello Kitty”.
As you can see by the tittle, it was not a simples restaurant, it was the first one in our country with the official theme of Hello Kitty. And my wife is absolutely crazy for this caracter.
So we decide to visit the place and as soon as we got there, as we expected, there was a line and manny people waiting for the chance to enter the new restaurant.
Out of the blue I noticed that manny visitors had so many questions, such as “whats is the kind of food that they offer” or “do you think that it is going to be expensive “?
So, I decided to take a picture of the menu to give the answers for those who were waiting in the line and for the ones who are going to try to get those informations using Google Maps.
Now, it’s a habit for me, always to provide as manny information as possible, when I am visiting a new place in my city.
The photo of a restaurant menu is not a beatiful picture from a technical point of view but is very valueble for the new visitor who are looking for more information about a new local on Google Maps.
Another good tip to help other users and get some attention to your photos is to look for the most different kind of food of the restaurant that you are visiting.
As example, I can tell you about my visit at “Classe A - Hamburgueria”. The experience was great because the restaurant had so Manny kinds of different sandwiches. On that occasion, I ordered an Hamburger of Mexican Nachos, can you believe?
And in other ocasion I visited a bar called “Feirinha Bar”- an amazing place opened in the middle of the street with such colorful decoration.
It simply blowed up my mind!
Of course, in both ocasion I tooked many pictures, select the best ones and shared with the local guide community giving five stars for those new places, specially for give me such an unexpected experience.
I can’t wait to discover my next aventure.
With that in mind, I am pretty sure that take useful and unexpected photos is the most interesting thing I’ve done as a Local Guide!
