I like to think that leaving my house and heading for the market will always be a pleasant experience for me. For me, market is not just going to a place where buyers and sellers should transact, but a totally an adventurous experience. This is because I get to explore all options. Moving from one stall to another, getting a better and best deals on my desired goods is just fulfilling.
I love to post pictures reviews on the markets I have visited because I am sure it would be of great assistance and a source of encouragement to those who find it difficult to visit their local markets.
My first visit to the market was not pleasant at all. On that fateful day, I went to the market with my aunt who is also a market lover and a savvy one at that. We visited our local Mile12 market known mainly for food stuff to stock up the house with some veggies, fruits, meat, tubers and so on. On getting to the market, seeing the crowd and perceiving the air mixed with all manner of odour made my stomach churn. I just couldn’t stand the whole atmosphere around me. Then we progressed to the main purpose of coming. We went by different sellers, yes sometimes we saw what we wanted but we know if we just move in a little further we would buy and for less. The negotiations are usually the best part, my wittiness comes on full and strong. Many times the sellers would call us ‘alaroro’ meaning someone who is a spendthrift and economical in a way. Sometimes we are lucky and other times we just move to another seller. At the end of our visit to the markets, we had good buys at very good prices. So my first experience was a mixture of good and bad. But I was glad because it was totally a new and exciting though challenging experience altogether and that’s one very interesting thing about me, I love adventure, going to new places, trying new things and talking about them at the slightest opportunity. I sincerely wish that people would come out of their comfort zones and try something different from their routines. There’s so much to explore, there’s a lot to see if only we can try to see the need for a change. Some people say the market is their worst nightmare and some just don’t like the sound of one. I can proudly say yes, my first experience wasn’t too cool but today, the mere mention of the word send chills to my spine and I’m beaming with excitement of another adventure.
