My Mahabaleshwar Trip

I am originally from Aurangabad i.e. Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar today

We planned a trip to Mahabaleshwar in May

Aurangabad to Mahabaleshwar is approximately 340 km.

It was decided that we would go to Pune by train and from there take a corporation bus to Mahabaleshwar

Made a train reservation from Aurangabad to Pune at 8:30 in the night. Reached Pune between 5:30 in the morning in a very fresh mood.

In the morning I came to Swargate from Shivaji Nagar and took a 6:30 corporation bus to Mahabaleshwar from there.

About 150 kilometers from Pune to Mahabaleshwar is a journey of about three and a half hours.

This trip was very nice as it was a morning trip from Wai onwards to Ghat.

The scenic environment, the winding ghats, the cool breeze, sometimes at the top of the mountain and sometimes at the foot of the mountain, you don’t know how time passes.

Finally, we reached Mahabaleshwar bus stand at around 9:30.

After coming here, I realized that there are no rickshaws to go around here, instead one has to book a taxi for every work. So one thing I realized is that here there are more taxis than buses.

The bus stand of Mahabaleshwar will be of international standard as tourists from around the world come here. But I did not feel anything like that, like a bus stand in a sub-district place, the bus stand is dirty, even the basic things are not provided, there is no way to tell when the buses will be cancelled.

We booked a taxi from here to go to MTDC resort which is 2 km from the bus stand and we paid Rs.100 for it. The emptying of Back pockets started here. The taxi driver started asking us about our details, he knew that we were traveling for the first time, we also told him our plan, one day to Mahabaleshwar and Pachagani and Second day to Pratapgarh. On this he said sir can I suggest something? Speak as I said talk, he said sir now it’s 10 o’clock you should do Pratapgad today and tomorrow first Mahabaleshwar and Pachgani with you so that you can save time and enjoy leisurely Mahabaleshwar tourism I will act as both your guide and driver 10 points on Pratapgad, Mahabaleshwar And Panchgani will show 20 points. Rs. 2500 for Pratapgarh and Rs 3500 thousand rupees for Mahabaleshwar to Pachagani, he was so sweet-talking that we fell into his trap. Now our new plan is ready Pratapgad first and talking about Mahabaleshwar and Pachgani on the second day, .

So We reached resort of MTDC came to Raj Bhavan which means coming to such a scenic place will have fun and enjoy being close to nature. There was no problem here as the Raj Bhavan booking was done online. I got along well because the staff here are friendly. Our room was 12. Nice cool room, 24 hours’ hot water very abundant. Now it was 11:30, took a nice hot bath and ate whatever breakfast we had brought from home and rested till 3:30. It was a great relief as there was no mobile coverage.

Day :-1

At exactly 3:15 the driver got a call over the intercom. We got ready in the next half hour. I left for Pratapgarh at about 4 o’clock.

Raj Bhavan to Mahabaleshwar is 30 km. On the way to Pratapgad, it takes about an hour and a half to visit the Shiv-style village handicraft center. Here the ticket is 200 rupees per person. It gives a little idea of what the Shivkalin village (Traditional) would be like and it is fun to see it in person. But the ticket price seems expensive.

Afzal Khan’s mausoleum, temple and picturesque surroundings can be enjoyed from Pratapgarh. As there is enough information about Pratapgad on the net, not much is mentioned here. But the sunset will be remembered for a lifetime. We came back around 6:30, the driver dropped us at the market which is adjacent to the bus stand of Mahabaleshwar. Expensive market like any other city.

Bhillar There is a village here which is called a book village everyone has a library and a library in their house no one come sit take a book read no one will say anything survey libraries are open. Books will be seen in door-to-door alleys.

This is first Try

Excellent post about Mahabaleshwar trip @Raj_Tayade

I also have taken the same route from Aurangabad-Pune-Mahabaleshwar back in 2001 using the ST bus.

Additionally, I booked the return trip immediately after reaching there in the morning, since there are limited seats, and the last bus to Pune was at 6:30 pm

It is surprising and also sad to see that the condition of the ST stand is not improved after so many years.

All photos are nice, and tourist spots are covered perfectly.

I especially like the ‘Books Village’ :+1:
