My Magical Portal - The Local Guides program for me

At the time I discovered Google Local Guides program I was singing in a band. I truly love singing and because of that I enjoyed most of my time there. However, as time went by, we got more and more gigs and soon, every weekend was booked, we always had to be ready and free for new and sudden calls and engagements, and I started feeling suffocated and encaged. Continuing to perform in that band meant giving up travelling my way and I just couldn’t allow it, but yes, it took some time before I’ve finally set myself free.

Luckily, Universus felt my sorrow and introduced me to the Local Guides’ wonderful services and how I can use them to lift my travelling spirits, share my experiences and contribute to others. And I did it, I did it so passionately that it turned me into something I call a mindful local tourist. I would just go outside, stroll down my street, through the neighbourhood, and see so many things to share and give a virtual life to, and I felt like I was seeing those for the first time. With the band, I performed around the country and I used every opportunity to take more photos, videos, and write authentic and helpful reviews, as well.

Going to another town was always a breath of fresh air to me and I realized how lucky that is… To really see all those places, buildings, to really feel the landscapes, rivers, mountains, to take a moment and really taste that delicious food…to be able to get immersed in that which is in front of you in the now… that should be listed as a special power, in my opinion! So, in a huge way, Google Local Guides AKA My Magical Portal aided me in becoming more appreciative of the presents of the now, more aware of the beauties of my hometown and my gorgeous country, and more fascinated with life itself!

I started 2020 fresh and free and I am so eager to set off to some wonderful destinations, feel them, taste them, inhale them, touch them, and then share it all with so many people who, like me, breathe adventure, movement, novelty, diversity and joy!
