I’m a local guide Level 7
I have more than 1000 contributions, today i found out that my Master reviewer badge changes into expert reviewer and after sending an appeal to google one hour later my badge became novice reviewer and all my contributions are deleted, i only see numbers on my profile but nothing on people’s i reviewed.
I visited 3 countries in a month because of my work and reviewed them when i had time this week.
I’m sorry, but lately I have noticed that Google started making all reviews private for some LGs. I believe this is related to the LGs not being able to live up to the guidelines for reviews.
I think you need to go over each and every of your reviews and remove those that are violating
It is not easy to spot your own violations as you probably would not have done them if you already knew the guidelines!
And since your reviews are hidden and you have chosen to make your profile private there is not much others can do to help you.
You would copy paste the text from your latest 10 reviews below then someone might be able to spot what could be the reason.
And if you purposefully violated the rules to spam or hurt some businesses in a dishonest way no one can help you.
Since this is a new action taken by Google I’m unsure how to proceed after you have cleaned up all your reviews. I’m tagging @ErmesT for his kind advice on this.
i always make sure to not say insulting or hurting words in my reviews or do something against google maps rules, i think someone reported me when i put 1 star to a business 1 month ago, the owner Put 5* stars review to himself from different mails, he emailed me He threatened to delete my account, even though I know it’s impossible but I think it’s a spam reporting.
i post reviews in 3 languages depending on the place of the business.
here are my last reviews : (french )
Palais garnier
L’architecture de ce monument est tout simplement splendide. Il trône en plein milieu de la place
Flyview :
lors de l’activité les images ne sont pas nettes ça fait mal aux yeux
(English )
Tuilerie :
Crowded but beautiful
Colonne vendôme:
beautiful square flanked by hotels, jewelers and sophisticated stores
Medina:
must visit
(english - arabic)
Medina :
Small spiritual place
لازم تزورونه
(french)
gatineau :
Ce serait bien si l’abri était mieux isolé et ne laisse pas entrer la neige et pluie…
Had a bad experience here especially on the last October 2019 when it was raining and snowing just after
For long reviews i used to have more than 200 but everything has been reset to 0 then 4.
thats why i’m asking here whats wrong with my profile. the issue is :
went from Master reviewer to Novice
from expert director to novice
My points increase then decrease to 9367 again
Expert trailblazer to Novice
my reviews are deleted from businesses profiles and visible only to me.
The timing of the publication of the reviews could also have triggered this @N3lly .You mentioned that you published quite a few reviews in a short period of time after traveling for a month. That kind of behavior (a lot of reviews from different countries published one after the other in a short period of time) is also something spammers would do. In the past I have known a local guide who had uploaded all of her pictures from several months during a rainy weekend and she was also ‘punished’ for that.
On the topic of sticking to the guidelines, I would also like to remind you that:
pictures should only be uploaded once and to 1 place only, not to multiple
you should only upload pictures you have made yourself
No this week all my reviews were in the same location Paris.
but in the month i travelled to 3 countries Including mine.
the last reviews seen on my profiles are “just” edited reviews, i edited them to english as they all were in arabic because i was in Ksa and UAE. Now changed them to english to remove any doubt and avoid report spam
Reviews can be caught by the filter according to keywords, or checked when flagged as inappropriate and then made private if in violation of Google’s review policies. Editing your reviews may help to have them checked again by the filter.
Regarding the photos, please check again what said by @JanVanHaver .
Your trouble is likely not caused by you traveling to and contributing from several countries. Many of us do so with no problems.
It would be really helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply.
Looking at the text you posted from your reviews I would mention that I always try to include a sentence that proves I was there and a sentence that communicates my opinion. Your very short sentences are very general and can hence easily be taken as spam.
@MortenCopenhagen most of pictures are edited so they look Unreal, i dont know if this counts for google.
for photos i know why they are posted many times, because when i add many photos at the same time it says error so i keep uploading again and again instead of waiting.
for reviews as i said i edited them either by changing the language to english from arabic or removing the text.
its still hidding.
also i did not get any mail from google about violation policy so be sure i did something wrong.
Editing of photos is also regulated. Adjustments can be “minor” only.
It is standard practice that Google does not issue warnings. It sure would be nice if they could/would.
The language is not the problem, we can write reviews in any language. So simply translating them is not helping. The AI filters are triggered by content.
Still, I’m unsure how to move forward after you have cleaned up your reviews and they don’t start showing up after an edit.
There might be something new at play here. But keep cleaning and deleting marginal reviews and hopefully, they will start to turn public when you have cleared out what is triggering your problem.
@N3lly , You said "most of pictures are edited so they look Unreal, i dont know if this counts for google. "
Before to continue this conversation, I want to give you a few links to check. There are a lot of more links that we can share with you, but I think these are enough to understand what we mean. All these photos are a violation of the Local Guides Programm, and also of the European Copyright Law.
You can be removed from the program, for uploading that content, and you can be fined in your country
Why my badge got downgraded? In the web i can see my reviews are still there, even the points i got are still there. But the problem is that my Reviewer Badge is back to Novice, I was a Master and now is gone. Please help! I searched about this here on Local Guides but it seems that nobody has experienced this kind of problem. Maybe it’s a bug from the server. I don’t know, but i do know that i am sad to see this happening because i put a lot of work into this and i followed the Local Guides Guidelines and now my reviews are gone. Very sad!
I have not experienced problems with uploading many photos in succession. Some time I add almost 200 photos but they will be from 180 different places. So I aim for uploading only one = the best to each place.
You could tag a moderator and ask if they would take a look at what happened to all your reviews.
