I am an Architect. I often travel around a lot. Sometimes, I travel for personal getaways and sometimes it is work related. Either way, I end up staying at new and different places and cities for quite some time. I stayed in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh for two years, then in Chennai, Tamil Nadu for 4 years, Bangalore, Karnataka for 6 months, Ahmedabad in Gujarat for another 6 months, also in New Jersey, USA for 2 months and currently, I reside in Delhi, and have been doing so for the past two years. Being a girl, travelling to new places, itself, has been a challenge. Finding places to settle, familiarizing with the surroundings, and making informed decisions regarding accommodation, modes of travel, dining, etc. are yet some other challenges that tag along.
Exploring a city, finding a grocery shop nearby, top restaurants to dine out on a Friday evening, most happening pubs to go out to on a Saturday night, monuments and historic places to visit in the city, these constitute my frequent searches on google wherever I go. Sometimes, I stumble upon places and things on my own and some of the experiences have been overwhelming enough to be shared. Nevertheless, sometimes, I go in search of a shop only to reach there just to know that it has closed permanently. I personally do not want someone else’s efforts to go in vain. So I decided to give back to the community that has so often helped me find my way around. I started sharing and updating information on google maps by becoming a local guide. Editing the information about the place, reviewing it, adding new places, reviewing on the accessibility and parking details of the places, etc. help other visitors be better informed about places they wish to visit.
I started a travel blog of my own. I try to review the places I have visited and share my experience. Reaching out to a larger population through the blog was not easy. Local guides made my job easier. Photographs of the place, a good description in the review section and appropriate rating is all you need to do to express your thoughts on the place and help out tourists or visitors planning to visit the same place that you visited.
I love sharing information about monuments and historic places in cities, mainly to help tourists. I share details and images about the restaurants I visit and food I order and review about the taste, ambience, cost, and customer service mainly. I feel these information will help people looking for a dining place. If you really come to think of it,I am not doing anything different. I am doing all the things I used to do differently. #DoMore
