My Local Guide Journey: So Far...

Some years back, I was a fan of view street view and satellite layers in Google Maps and Google Earth applications. That is until I came across the contribute item in the Google Maps mobile application.

At first I used to clear out most of the daily Yes or No questions about places nearby so as to pass sometime (in most cases avoid dozing off - yeah one of those days) while I was commuting to work. Soon after that, I started naming the roads, buildings, schools and churches in my district and confirming their details. I then got my level 2 badge, this sprang my morale into the air (I had no idea that I had even earned the first badge before this :sunglasses: ). I was overjoyed by the accomplishment of not only having to add new places but also be rewarded for it.

Before I knew it, I was posting reviews, sharing photos and videos of places I had visited. From then on points and badges have been coming up (about 1.5 years now). It has been an amazing journey to where I am right now as a Level 7 Local guide with lots of fun and lifetime experiences. At one moment, I was taking a photo of some dining place and I was almost sued for it but walked away from it with a bag of explanations of how this will put the business on the world map.

I really do thank Google for this opportunity they gave me to share interesting places around my home and country to the whole world and being proud in situations where someone is amazed by the presence of road names and buildings of which I have been able to add or edit on Google maps, and I am able to firmly avail how I am a part of the amazing team around the world working to see that navigation is easy and interesting for everyone. Thanks Google, and thank you all Local Guides who share vital and amazing information about places you have visited and those in your different countries.
