My last trip to Hong Kong - part 1

It was cloudy Sunday in October 2018. Everything as usual, when a FB pop up to my screen. It was a message from a good friend Jan, who had started a company in London few years ago, saying: “howdy Marko? Long time no see. Well I’m getting married in December and would like to invite you to a ceremony to Hong Kong?”.

It was a pleasant surprise for me, since I even didn’t know he had a girfriend at that time ? but also eager to visit a country (OK technically this is China?) that wasn’t a priority at my travel list. And after seen it, would be a shame to miss it ?.

So after decided to visit Jan in Hong Kong, the scyscanner search began. I was lucky since got good connection flights for fair price. I paid 630 eur for Quatar Airways return flight. My journey started i Zagreb. We flew around 5 hours to Doha. The food at the airplane was good, just the plane was small and we had on 3 TVs. In Doha we wait for 2 hours and boarded on direct 8 hours flight to Hong Kong.

By Arriving on the Hong Kong airport I had a pleasant surprise. It was beginning of December and was warm. Sun was shining and the temperature was 27 degres. Later on, I found out that visiting Hong Kong at this time of the year, the weather is perfect: warm, no killing heat and hot summer nights with temperatures over 20 degres. ?

Taxi is surprisingly affordable. The prices are fixed and cars are marked with colour based on the district they operate. So you can find blue, red and green cabs at the airport.

The red one will take you to Tian Tan Buddha, a sightseeing that you are not allowed to miss ?

Be prepared to have one hour drive from the airport and take warm clothes, since the difference of the temperature can be up to 15 degres.

– more to come >> stay tuned ?

Hi @DanniS ,

I`ve been there for one week. Had chance to explore many interesting places

The most obvious thing getting there are high skyscrappers. We had quite extensive travel plan, so we covered Hong Kong centre and island with two day trips to Lamma island and Macau island.

But will write more about it in the next posts
