I recently noticed a discrepancy in my Google Maps photo views. On January 7th, 2025, I received a notification from Google Maps stating that my photo views had crossed 25 million+. However, when I checked my profile recently, the count has dropped to 22.5 million views.
Absolutely! I guess staying consistent and passionate is what truly matters. Thanks for sharing your experience – it’s really motivating! @MathanVibranarayan
@GauravNema this not true. Photos may be hidden to the public for several reasons, but they are never removed, views and points are only decreasing, when you delete them by yourself.
FYI @saidevadiga
@Annaelisa and @saidevadiga very likely it is only a matter of calculating and displaying the count and you didn’t loose any views or even photos. This did happen before several times and hopefully will be solved soon.
@saidevadiga Hi! This can happen if some of your photos were removed (due to policy violations or updates to locations) or if Google adjusted view counts due to system recalibrations. Many Local Guides have reported similar fluctuations. Keep contributing—your impact still matters!
Exactly, @GauravNema
The points “may” decrease if the content is “removed”.
As @WilfriedB said, in this case the contributions are simply made private.
I agree that this seems to be a contradiction, but it’s actually how it works. @ravikantjha , our friend @saidevadiga is reporting an issue. Reading the post may help to understand, don’t you agree? @saidevadiga , I agree with @WilfriedB about a possible glitch
