My Google Map review only visible to me

Hi, My review for the Botanist in Kirribilli isn’t showing up unless I log in. Not such a bad review by any stretch and not in breach of any T&C’s. Any ideas? I submitted it over a week ago now and one that was submitted yesterday by someone else is showing up. Not much point in submitting reviews if they are going to be hidden.

Cheers,

Neil

Hi @Cluggo

That is rather strange. Is there a chance you could show a screenshot of your review here so the community could see and pipe in on what the possible issue could be? Also, if you’re very sure that no T&Cs have been violated, what I’ve found in the past that works for me is to edit the review slightly e.g. change a sentence structure here and there and it goes through the second time.

Oh, one more thing @Cluggo . Although the Botanist is a food & drinks venue, If you have a question to ask that’s more general/technical such as this one, it’s usually best to submit it under the How-tos topic. You can also search that topic to see if someone has had the same issue. I don’t have the power to re-label posts so I’ll need to tag a Google moderator, @TsekoV . Thanks

Hello @Cluggo

I find on your profile one of your review is now private.

The automated check has marked the review as

objectionable.

I suggest you go through these guidelines once again

Please note, the objections get triggered by some specific phrases. However, we will never know what are these words.

Nevertheless, you will find the discussion in this thread on some of the aspects.

I suggest you edit the review and try posting once again.

Thanks again

Hi, thanks for that. Read the T’C’s again and can’t figure what would be ‘objectionable’ in it. Posted pics of it here so perhaps you could tell me? Overall it’s a good review, but I did complain about bad service in one instance, without being rude about it. Surely that is not unreasonable. Appreciate your thoughts. Cheers, Neil

Hello @Cluggo

Thanks for sharing details.

Seemingly, I find your review to be quite right.

Nevertheless, there is no clarity what triggers the objection.

Some terms common in Engineering do become objectionable to the system!

Consequently, I suggest replacing the name you used for the popular cocktail and see whether that works.

@Cluggo Thanks for adding the screenshots. Pro tip: use the @ to mention/tag folks so that they can get notified. I (and many others) rely heavily on the notification counter in the top right of Connect to monitor conversations/discussions so that I can reply faster.

Your review is great and I too can’t find any fault in it. And it’s perfectly fine to be critical and objectively mark a place down if the service was bad! As long as we’re not rude about it, I’m sure the business owners would appreciate the honest feedback. As a last resort, try not using the word ‘pandemic’. It’s nothing wrong per se but in the early days, YouTube was flagging all mentions of it because they wanted to make sure folks were not spreading false information. I’m just wondering whether the same is happening here and your review has been flagged for a manual review.

And keep on reviewing, things like this happens from time to time even for the avid reviewer. Don’t let it frustrate you too much! I’ve just realised you’re in Sydney! Say hello to a fellow Sydneysider @PennyChristie (she’s also an excellent Connect Moderator and accessibility champion!)
