Hi Connect friends, today I want to share this small but important milestone with you. I recently started a long discussion with some friends about the world of local guides.
During our outings around the city they often saw me writing reviews, taking photos of places and using the Maps application … they asked me: “what the hell are you doing?” In fact, unfortunately in my region (but also in other places in Italy and in the world) many boys and girls of my age are not informed about the world of local guides and Google Maps. This was an excellent opportunity to explain to them why I am a local guide, why I love writing reviews and helping local businesses and why I help other users with my information and contributions on maps. In fact, many people do not understand why we do all this without obtaining economic compensation.
It is not always an easy concept to make people “foreign” to this beautiful Google branded world understand. In addition to explaining why I love being a local guide and the technical specifications that are part of this program, I took the opportunity to tell my friends about the fantastic experience I had during Connect Live 19 in California. One of the most beautiful experiences of my life from which I learned a lot thanks to the people who are part of it, also realizing one of my greatest dreams: visiting the United States! Everyone was very impressed and excited by my story and they asked me immediately to explain how to be part of the program of local guides. Having managed to get my friends excited about the world of LG is a great thing for me and I hope that in the future we will be able to create an ever larger official community of guides in my region, organizing meetups and discussing important topics to improve the program and help more and more users.
