Hi I am Roni, a new local guide from Malang, East Java, Indonesia. I am so enthusiastic in everything about food, especially local food. How it was produced from farm to table, how was the taste, and stories behind its creation are interesting activity to be explored. Many experts said that food reflects a culture. They explained that food’s capture, cultivation, preparation, and consumption is cultural act. To understand the history of people, you should recognize its food.
When I started as local guides a year ago. I realized that this program provide a great opportunity to me both to introduce local foods and recognize other people’s local foods. Before I go to a destination, I always looking for recommendation of existing local foods in Google Map. I get a lot of information relate to the local foods such as its proper location, price, or even a short description of its taste. Not all local foods fit to my tummy and palate, especialIy if the local food is extreme or bizzare. Sometimes some local guides post about the local food’s ingredients with high resolution photos. It is very helpful to understand whether those local foods could be acceptable to my tummy or not.
Being local guide, after visiting a destination and trying its local foods. I am obliged to share my experiences in Google Map in return to other local guides who have already made my food tour easier. It is so simple but it could give significant benefits to others.
