My first virtual meetup

Last Thursday, I took part in the first meetup and the experience was something I can’t resist to share here.

Just came across this page and the catchy theme of sharing meal “virtually” got my attention. It was exciting and nervous at the same time. Finally, I subscribed to it knowing that I have to wake up at 5 am next morning, preparing a meal and sharing it. All was worth the efforts.
Thanks to the amazing and professional organiser @ValeriaA and all the fellow member for being part of the meetup, making it friendly and lively.
Many of us joined the meet without any delay and shows the dedication we have being a local guide and sharing the same moto.
And finally the meat of the meet-
By the start of the meetup, we were around 8. We started with a quick intro of ourselves, also sharing the meal we prepared. From cocktail to french fries to tea and so much more.
We shared so much just in a span of a couple of hours-

  • our motivation on why we contribute to maps
  • what’s special about the food we are having
  • different cultures
  • easter eggs
  • holidays
  • how can we leave the hot topic- covid
  • how we spend our time at home
  • ways to make it our best to add to maps being in the home
  • showing appreciation to people with critical jobs like doctors/cops.
  • our pets, we got introduced to the big fluffy cat of @maria and the cutest tiny cat of our fellow jitster
  • screen sharing our biggest contribution to maps, which are amazing. Photos with millions of views affecting lives.
  • thanks for introducing me to crowdsource, it is a hell of a community to get involved into, and is added in my todo now.
  • The way @samson expressed his feelings for CL on how he wants to touch/feel/hug and shake Mr. @Alpha was heart touching.
  • and so much more…

Thanks for the first best experience where words aren’t worthy to describe. I remember showing the below meetup screenshot to my parents and friends and making them jealous :slightly_smiling_face:

A cultural exchange program centred towards being a local guide and sharing a meal with people from all over the world- Argentina, Nigeria, Indonesia, India and more…
@Samson @Jesi @Maria @Valeria @Deni @Alpha @Anil and some more I have missed for which I offer my sincere apologies (Drop a comment and I will add your name here)
Looking forward to more such experiences.
