My first metro rail journey. The decision to ride on the metro came suddenly all for the sake of a simple breakfast. We started from Mirpur and went to Farmgate metro station.
After arriving here at Mirpur Metro Station, I feel like I have moved abroad. Although the fair was a bit high, the scope of reaching our destination on time made it worthwhile. Due to the space in between, more people can be accommodated than the regular train seating system. There was no problem standing for a short time as we have so many buckles to hold on to and support in small jerks.
What surprised me the most was the level of organization, from ticketing to check-out, we could easily navigate the process, and the staff was incredibly helpful. If we ever faced confusion, their guidance was always available.
There is a lift for sick and old people in wheelchairs. I know how hard it is to move around in a wheelchair, so this step really meant a lot to me.
Inside the station, there were bathrooms just for women that were very clean and well-equipped. The metro even went a step further by having special areas for moms to change babies’ diapers.
These little things made my first trip on the metro a pleasantly surprising experience.
