My First Meet Up: The Full Cleveland Spring 2019

This morning I attended an event called The Full Cleveland Spring 2019 tour. Whether rain or shine, this tour is led by @FullCleveland a level 8 local guide with Google. The tour was free. This was the 10th tour that Peet has hosted.

The meet up began at Dewey’s Coffee House in Shaker Square. We then took a small walk through the Farmers Market in Shaker Square. Only half the market was in operation due to the time of year. With warmer, summer days approaching, both roads of the market will be operating.

Larchmere Boulevard was our first destination. We walked until we came across a cafe and bakery on Larchmere called The 3 Aprons. I loved the intimate atmosphere. The clerk was very kind and welcoming of a large group. I purchased the almond tea cake, though it reminded me more of a lemon pound cake with frosting. Three almond slices adorned the top of the desert. It was very good, very light yet hardy enough to make you full of dessert :cupcake:

Our next stop was Larchmere Fire Works. Upon approaching Larchmere Fire Works, I noticed this is not your ordinary house with garage! But of course that’s to be expected on Larchmere. So it’s no surprise, that something creative was inside! The house is a store and occasional classroom, and the garage is a workshop for a blacksmith and glass blower. A demonstration from the blacksmith was entertaining! Step by step, he displayed his expertise in spiral making out of iron. He offers classes to those looking to play blacksmith for a day. It’s not something you see everyday, so I was quite impressed!

Next, we backtracked to Fiddlehead Gallery. I loved visiting this store for its uniqueness in inventory and all of the one-of-a-kind objects from various places that can be enjoyed by simply looking at them, as this is a gallery, however, it is easy to be hooked on buying something. I definitely was! I bought a woven, 1 inch in width, bracelet. The owner explained that this piece was from Thailand and made by a hill tribe. If it weren’t for The Full Cleveland tour, I would not have known about this place at all. But I’m glad I do and hope to return in the future when looking for one of a kind pieces of jewelry!

Though the tour continued on, my last stop with the group was Loganberry Books. I was in awe of the beauty of this book store. The historic feel of an old bookstore is very appealing! Whether a tourist or local, this is definitely a place that you must see at least once in your life. My goal is to one day purchase something one of a kind from this store, that you can only find at this store. With the variety of books and other knickknacks, I’m sure that’s possible.

This was quite an eventful morning, and my goal next time is to make it through the afternoon and into the evening with the group. Though I was a “single rider”, those also on the tour were very welcoming, and I learned a lot more about an area that I used to live in but never explored. But this is what local living and lifestyle in Cleveland is all about, finding the beauty in your local tourism helps you appreciate the beauty in tourism in general and makes you even more appreciative of experiences abroad.

@Kendall ,

Thank you for attending, those are great pictures!

Kendall was very kind in her description, since we had a couple of miscues along the way.

It was an absolute pleasure meeting Kendall and I’m sure we will meet again.

We got to speak about being local guides, which was very nice

Although I host a Full Cleveland walk every six months, I’m hoping to have other events and already have something planned in June.

I’ll be posting about that, bur I just wanted again to say that I really was happy to meet another local guide.

See you again sometime!
