My Favourite Food at Vrindavan.

My Favourite Food at Vrindavan.

Vrindavan is the city which is famous for Balgopal temples and Radha Rani.

BalGopal used to love every milk product, especially Makhan (Butter) and was with love also named as Makhan Chor (Butter Thief).

Some devotees also prepare a special ‘chappan bhog’ for Lord Krishna, containing 56 kinds of food items.

There is huge love for Dairy Products in Vrindavan and you will see a lot of sweets made of Milk.

There are some of my favorites sweets and I always prefer to have it and to take along some of them to back home.

PEDA: It is one of the favourite sweet to have over there. Even the smell of it is so appealing

It is made by diligently boiling Milk on slow heat, while constantly stirring. Once it takes the shape of Mawa in golden brown color, it is allowed to cool. Sugar, ghee and cardamom powder is added to it and then each Peda is hand rolled.

Pedas are slightly brown in colour and best consumed when fresh and soft.

I personally find the best Peda are found to be outside Banke Bihari Temple which is all over the street.

I read somewhere long back that concept of Peda was arrived since Lord Krishna in his childhood used to eat soil which he used to hand rolled and that is why when we see Pedas at Vrindavan are in the shape of hand rolled Pedas.

LASSI:

Lassi is made up of Curd which is served in the Kulhad (Earthen Pot) and is quite different which you have anywhere else.

You can have the salty one or sweet one. Both are amazing.

I personally love both depending upon on my mood but more over I drink the salty one.

This lassi becomes a sinful affair due to the rich and thick layer of Malai and a heavy dose of dry fruit on the top.

KACHORIS / SAMOSAS:

You’ll have all the flavors of the food when you’re visiting Vrindavan.

Kachoris and Samosa are such a delight to eat.

Kachori is made up of Moong dal with a scent of Desi Ghee drenched in it.

There are varieties of Kachoris served here like filled up with Mawa and Dry Fruits. Each shop has its own speciality to make and they are made without onions and garlic which will encourage you to have at least one.

Served with green chutney and Satvik Alloo Curry.

All streets are filled up with a lot of Local shops to have food and serve your tummy.

TEA:

Almost every Indian starts its day with Tea and it is one of the most popular thing to have in Vrindavan.

It is served in Kulhad (Earthen pot) with the blend of cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom.

It will surely turn your mind to have a better day.

Those were some of my favorites and Rest there are a lot of more things to try I will mention below:

Ghewar, Jalebi, Rabri, Gujiya, Bhalle Papdi, Makhan Mishri which are also among the famous things to try over there.

Hi @Saurabhtheexplorer

Congratulations for this post that is selected as a Friday’s Favorite :tada: :tada:

I like Masala Chai. The Kulhad Tea looks interesting. I would love to try it someday. When drinking Kulhad Tea, do the Indians usually eat something, such as cookie?

I would like to tell you to add @ before the name to communicate with fellow Local Guides on Connect, so that the one you mentioned will get the notification
