If I had to choose just one place I’ve reviewed on Google Maps, it would be Qingfeng Village (慶豐村) in Hualien, Taiwan.
Unlike many reviews about famous tourist attractions, this one is deeply personal because Qingfeng Village is my hometown.
Growing up here, I never thought the ordinary streets, small cafés, local eateries, and familiar scenery would become places worth introducing to the world. It wasn’t until I started contributing to Google Maps that I realized people are often looking for places that feel authentic rather than famous.
When I reviewed Qingfeng Village, I wasn’t simply describing businesses. I was sharing memories, local stories, and the atmosphere that I have experienced since childhood. Every photo I uploaded carries a little piece of home—from quiet village roads and handcrafted desserts to welcoming cafés and family-run shops.
One of my favorite projects was creating a “Qingfeng Village Slow Travel” series. Instead of encouraging people to rush through attractions, I wanted visitors to slow down, walk around the village, enjoy a cup of coffee, chat with local people, and appreciate the everyday beauty that many travelers might otherwise miss.
Being a Local Guide has changed how I see my hometown. Places that once felt ordinary now remind me that every community has its own unique stories waiting to be discovered.
I hope that through my reviews and photos, more people will discover Qingfeng Village—not because it’s famous, but because it’s genuine.
Thank you, Google Maps, for giving me a chance to share a place that means so much to me. ![]()
