In my application to Connect Live 2020 I shared about my favorite place on Google Maps, and how this place and more important, the people that live and work there is being affected by Covid-19.
As Local Guides, we have an opportunity to mitigate the damages of this Pandemic.
Below is what I started to do since my country was locked down in quarantine.
Local Guide Response to Covid-19
- During the Pandemic and Quarantine: I have added, updated and confirmed in Google Maps several businesses focused in the delivery of health gears, and food. I created a Listing and share it with my friends and colleagues. Worldwide, people are encouraged to stay at home. Because of that, many small businesses focused on food delivery have emerged. I have identified some of those new services via Social Media and added them to Google Maps.
- After Quarantine (Probably until the end of May 2020), to support local businesses:
- I look forward to update and improve the listing of local businesses focused in the touristic sector.
- I will create several listings focused in different areas of the small businesses that work in the Colonial Zone, which is my favorite place on Google Maps.
The damage that this pandemic is doing to the live of many people we love, and the world economy is unprecedented. These edits in Google Maps are part of the small contribution I can do through the wonderful Local Guides Program. I would also like to learn about your ideas and suggestions on how we can contribute more.
