My Favorite Garden On The Rooftop Of The House

Hello Friends,

Have a nice day. Today I will tell you some things about how to make a beautiful garden on the roof of the house.

We have a proverb in Bengali in Bangladesh, Twelve fruits in twelve months, neither eating Goes to the abyss. I understood the need to eat fruit, but where is the pub? Although there are many import-dependent countries in the fruit world, why 12 fruits in 12 months in Bangladesh, more and more fruits are hanging in the juice in our fruit shops and attracting buyers every day of the year. The smell of the fruit intoxicates the pedestrian. If we ask ourselves why is the foreign fruit market so high? No good answer can be found. Is rather like advertising. I just eat.

At one time in the courtyard of almost every house in village Bengal, there were native fruit trees. At present, many indigenous and exotic fruit trees are seen in the empty space in front of many houses in the city area. Today I will share with you how to do roof gardening in an easy way. The system only applies to our South and Southeast Asian countries.

Attention to location selection:

According to a UN report, currently 65 percent of the world’s population lives in cities. In 1950 years, the rate was only 30 percent. In the future, the stream of people in the city will be more rapid. By 2050, about 65 percent of the world’s population will live in cities. Therefore, the development of the existing cities must be developed. At present about 50 million people live in cities in Bangladesh. In 2021, about 50 percent of the population will live in the city. And by 2050, 100% that means 27 crore people will live in the city. Then the village and the city will become one in harmony. In such a context, the city has to be built in a planned manner. And so the Roof gardening has become vital.

Required materials:

  • An empty roof
  • Half drum, cement or clay tub, steel or plastic tray
  • Permanent beds at places like rooftop facilities (should be kept vacant between ceilings and beds).
  • Garden Scissors, spades, showers, buckets, saws, spades, spray machines etc.
  • Loose soil, rotten dried dung and compost, sand and brick moss, etc.
  • Plant seedlings / pens or seeds

Trees suitable for cultivation in Roof:

  • Mango-Bari Mango-3 (Amrapali), Bau Mango-2 (Sinduri)
  • Papaya, Banana
  • Guava: Bari Guava-2, Ipsa Guava-1
  • Cool/Jujube: Bau Cool/Jujube -1, Ipsa Cool/ Jujube -1 (Apple Cool), Thai Cool/ Jujube -2
  • Lemon: Bari Lemon-2 and 3, Bau Kaguji Lemon-1
  • Golden Apple: Bari Amra (Golden Apple) -1, Beau Amra (Golden Apple) -1
  • Karamcha/ Karonda: Thai Karamcha/Karonda
  • Pomegranate (native developed)
  • Orange and Malta: Bari Kamala-1, Bari Malta – 1
  • Jamrul: Bau jamrul-1 (pear jamrul), bau jamrul-2 (apple jamrul), etc.
  • Vegetables: red spinach, spinach, radish spinach, data spinach, grafted spinach, spinach, lettuce, eggplant, tomato, chilli etc.

Method:

  • The bottom of the Half Drum should have 5/6 holes of 1 inch diameter holes to drain excess water.
  • Broken pieces of earthen tub should be placed on the holes.
  • The bottom of the drum should be 3 inches in diameter and cover with sand.
  • After filling two-thirds of the drum with a mixture of equal amount of loamy soil and compost dung, apply approximately 50-100 grams of mixed fertilizer per drum according to the half drum and mix well with the soil and fill the whole drum with soil.
  • After 15 days, the desired tree should be planted by drilling the amount of soil ball just in the middle of the drum. At this time the extra roots / dead roots of the sapling tree should be cut off and be careful not to break the ground ball.
  • It should be tied with the poles of the planted trees.
  • After planting, the root of the tree should be thoroughly soaked with water.
  • Irrigation and application of topical fertilizers to the trees as required from time to time, pest control measures should be taken.
  • 2/3 Silva mixed tablet fertilizer per half drum at the time of planting apply 4 inches deep in the soil 6 inches away from the base of the tree.
  • Depending on the growth of the plant, apply 50/100 gram of mixed fertilizer per tub twice and mix well.
  • The diseased and dead branches of the tree should be pruned and boardpaste should be applied to the cut.

Caring:

  • Pruning- After eating Cool/Jujube, all the branches of the tree should be pruned in the middle of the month of Falgun. Besides, bore paste should be cut off dead and diseased pulses.
  • Change the soil in the tub or drum- Every year, if not every year, you will need to replace the old soil of the tub at the end of that year with the new dung mixed soil and re-fill the tub. At this time care should be taken so that the tree is not damaged too much. Therefore, it is better to use a two-dimensional drum rather than a single level drum.

Pest Control System:

  • Eco-friendly IPM or ICM method should be followed to control the pest. Organic chemical pesticides such as Nimbicidin, Bicao-1 can be used without the use of chemicals except for special needs.

Mealybug:

  • Guava, Cool/Jujube, lemon, Mango, Watermelon, Olive, Eggplant, etc. can be seen in the attack of this insect.

Special mark:

  • The underside of the leaves looks like white cotton.
  • Insects cannot fly.
  • Yellow water comes out pressing two fingers.
  • The tree weakens, the leaves turn red, the leaves and fruits fall off, and the shape of the fruit becomes distorted.
  • Many times the leaves are attacked by shoot mold disease.

Disease control:

  • The pest must be suppressed by hand picking. Organic pesticides should be applied if necessary.
  • Mix 2 grams of whey powder in every liter of water and spray under tea leaves to get good results.
  • Tilt-250 EC, 0.50 ml per liter of water should be mixed and sprayed.

@OmarBD Thanks for the informative post, It’s good to know that many buildings in metropolitan areas are promoting the culture of planting trees at the rooftops, which is an innovative way of reducing the greenhouse gas emissions thereby abiding to the Net Energy Zero standards.
