I started contributing to Google Maps as a Local Guide because whenever I visited a new place, the Google Maps feature on my phone asked me to review the location. I am an avid traveler and I love exploring new places and telling people about them, so I was intrigued by the concept of reviewing the places I visited. Essentially, the Local Guide feature helps me share my passion for travel with the world.
I live in India, which is a beautiful country with many wonderful places to visit. However, because I come from a town where there is no significant presence of local guides, I want to contribute reviews to the lesser-explored parts of India to Google Maps. This includes the urban landscapes, the mysterious jungles, the sandy beaches, the beautiful mountains, and so much more. I want to encourage more people to use Google Maps to reach their destinations, especially using the wonderful “offline maps” feature that makes it easy to discover even “off-the-grid” locations.
Recently a friend of mine visited me from the United States and expressed his desire to see the local places, i was happy to be a local guide and took him to Hampi. Here are a few pictures.
If presented with the opportunity, I am very interested in leading a program of local guides in my region.
