Peace be upon you all, Hello fellow Local Guides.
I wanted to share with you my experience as an Egyptian Local Guide.
Few years ago, the Google Maps experience in Egypt was very disappointing.
No one was brave enough to drive home following Navigation instructions!
And if someone tried, they would end up getting lost or getting wrong directions leading them through closed streets or dangerous areas.
All that changed after some of Egypt’s elite citizens began joining the Local Guides program and started investing their precious time and experience in improving the Google Maps.
We started to find each other through social media platforms.
You can visit our Facebook group: Egypt Local Guides on FB
Then we started to connect with each other and started hosting meetups to share our knowledge and experience. (6 Meetups till now)
I was so lucky to host a meetup at the Pyramids of Giza

We agreed to set many goals with only one vision … to make Egypt Map helpful, trust-able, and credible to each and everyone Living, working, or visiting Egypt.
We used the Map maker and the Google maps App to re-shape and refine Egypt Streets, cities, and points of interest.
Nowadays the majority of families, drivers, commuters, Taxis, or Uber drivers rely completely on Google Maps to reach their destinations.
This can be clearly seen around the streets and among people. And also in media, as you can see in this post:
Google Maps mentioned in an Egyptian news website!
Now, as a community moderator and a member of the Egypt Local Guides team …
I would like to thank all Egyptian Map Makers, Local Guides, and Trusted SV Photographers,
for making a difference in the lives of millions of Egyptians who rely on Google Maps in their daily life, and making their lives easier.
Thank you all
