While everyone is sharing something about the present, I want to share an achievement from the past that I recently had another look at!
I was just exploring Google Earth and rediscovered one of the POIs I added back in April 2007. I had forgotten about it for a while, and it was a nice reminder for me. So, I thought it would be good to share it here too.
Back then, even the perfect Map Maker tool wasn’t established. If I remember correctly, we used to upload KMZ files of each placemark on our Google Earth to its community. Then, Google would decide whether to add them to the map. The placemark info contains the Name, Description, and Source which proves the info. I would appreciate it if anyone remembers more details.
Even today we could add a placemark on Google Earth, but it is private and there is no way to make it publicly available over the map.
I always say that I live with Google Maps, and this is another sign that represents this. We were together for the most part of my life! I hope Google keeps this nostalgic layer on Google Earth which is valuable to many of us.
