One of my favorite things to take pictures of is cameras. Their gorgeous, mechanical and provide a unique perspective of time. Over the years, the technology of cameras and the activity of taking pictures has changed drastically. I imagine the queen of England and the privilege during that period in time to take such a shot. I think of old time photos of large families where it took a good part of the day to setup the shot with a perfectly set tripod, the time to prepare the scene with everyone carefully tiered on the steps of the house to finally snap that moment in time. My mind then goes to a father on the beach carrying a more portable, hand-held camera taking pictures of his family having fun on a much earned vacation.
It’s for these reasons that I love taking pictures of cameras. Below is a collection of some of my most coveted shots of cameras I’ve collected over the years. Many of these I’ve found in antique shops or vintage markets. Some shots are black and white, others are in color with pops of gold. I love the various textures represented in this collection and how these mechanical devices are now viewed as a work of art.
I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do…
