Title: From Lone Navigator to “The Navigator Finder”- My 9-Year Journey in our Global Village :globe_showing_europe_africa::sparkles:

Hello Local Guides Friends.

As we celebrate 10 Years of Local Guides Connect, I couldn’t resist joining the #MY CONNECT CARAVAN campaign initiative by @NareshDarji bhai to share a piece of my heart and my journey with this incredible global community.

.

My story with Google Maps started back in 2017 in Ghaziabad. Back then, the local community was active, but they mostly operated within their own close-knit groups. I was more of a solo wanderer. My approach was simple but honest: I wrote reviews based strictly on my exact, real-world experiences.

I was passionate about accuracy. I would constantly fix wrong timings and fact-check business details on the map. But being a “fact-checker” wasn’t always easy. I vividly remember facing resistance and even arguments from some local business owners who would ask me, “Why are you doing this? What do you get out of it?”

Shortly after, life threw some challenges my way, and I had to take a complete break from mapping. The caravan had stopped. Or so I thought.

The Grand Comeback & Finding My Tribe :rocket:

In 2023, something sparked inside me again. I restarted my journey, but this time, I had a burning desire to do something dramatic, something impactful. I wanted to push my limits.

That determination led me to incredible milestones—reaching Level 10, earning the “Master Reviewer” badge, and watching my reviews cross lakhs of views. But the real magic happened when I truly connected with the global community.

Recently, I had the honor of participating in the TRAC 2026 as part of Team Mexico City, proudly carrying the title self thought) “The Navigator Finder.” :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Being a part of T100 Leaderboard brought me to the @AdamGT 's Team, and that’s where everything changed. The Adam GT’s team recognized my dedication, and I was honored as the Leaderboard Champion twice! :tada:

"This championship and recognition gave me the ultimate boost I needed to firmly stand and shine in this beautiful community."

Celebrating 10 Years of Connect

Looking back at 2017, when I was fighting alone with shopkeepers to fix a map timing, and looking at 2026, where I am celebrated as a ‘Big Brother’ @AdamGT and Champion in a global team—it feels surreal. This is what Connect is all about. It transforms individual mappers into a Global family.

Thank you to the Connect LOCAL GUIDE TEAM @MoniDi @TinaWill & All Backend team the TRAC organizers, @SholaIB & @MarcoDavoli and every Local Guide who makes this global village feel like home.

Happy 10th Anniversary, Local Guides Connect! :leftwards_hand::right_arrow::left_facing_fist::right_arrow::handshake::right_arrow::people_hugging:

@shaileno What a beautiful and touching article. I loved how you shared how your passion for accuracy led you to help with fact-checking on Maps. It is a very impactful category to help with. I liked too how you vulnerably shared too the behind the scenes and pushback you got, as well as how life gave pushback too- and yet you kept going after even stronger. So well deserved to see all those shoutouts and awards. I will write my caravan article. What a nice idea.
