My name is Saravanakanth and I am in Local Guide Level 8 and from Chennai, India.
Marina Beach is my favorite hangout and my mornings are never complete without jog or walk along the sandy seashore of Marina. I spend my time with my family in the evenings when my children play ball games and horse riding.
The long coastal line stretches 13 Kilometers from Fort St George in the North to the Beasant Nagar in South. It is studded with monuments and statues of National and Regional leaders like Mahathma Gandhi, Kamarajar, Nethaji Subhash Chandra Bose etc. The memorials of 4 former chief ministers are situated here.
The majestic light house opened to public in 2013 and visitors are allowed to view Marine from the top of lighthouse. Both Republic and Independence day celebrations are conducted here by Government of Tamil Nadu every year. Vivekananda House which was formerly known as Ice House is situated across the road.
Presidency College and many Government Buildings are situated close to Marina Beach. Rest rooms are available on so many locations and rental bikes are available as well. Recently the beach was made accessible to Physically Challenged people by laying carpet on the sand up to sea shore.
People use to throng this beautiful beach every morning and evening and engage in physical activities. Fresh prepared sea food items are available in mobile eateries in the evening. We have conducted several Meet ups here in the beach. Huge crowd gathers during the New Year celebrations.
Marina Beach is the part of my every day life and I never missed out to visit the natural beauty whenever possible. We have to keep the God given gift litter free and educate the children about preserving this beautiful beach.
