Before I begin my story, I will tell about myself, I love the thrill, as a child I skated on skates, skateboard, scooter and bicycle. I loved sports and always wanted to do it, went to the mountains, swam in the lakes…
In mid-2009, I met a girl in the mountains who told about mountaineering sections. I started to go to the climbers trainings, at first, we were running 10-15 kilometers during the workout, I thought my legs would refuse to work, and I would finish as a cripple. Nevertheless, when at the end of the month of training we went to the ascent to the mountains. 12.5 km of ascent under the rocky route, climbed to the peak and returned to the base camp, having overcome a total of more than 25 kilometers with heavy backpacks. Going down was not very pleasant hurt knee. At the end of the day, I was like a squeezed lemon and I realized that I managed it only thanks to hard training.
Most of the climbers were like just me, they also loved to ride and were active. I get friends my best friend was Vanya. I told him that I didn’t like to go down the mountain, my knees hurt. Vanya that evening told me about his hobby, he rose to the mountains with skis and slid down. Later I found out what it is backcountry. We agreed to do it together sometime. I rented a snowboard, and we went to the mountains. The first time standing on the board, I felt a pleasant wind in the face. It was great sense of freedom. In addition, in 2010, I bought a snowboard and started looking for places for backcountry and freeride.
Fortunately, I live in the city of Almaty, which is surrounded by mountains and there is a huge variety of natural slopes. On some of them, ski resorts were built like: Almatau, Ak-Bulak, Shymbulak, Tabagan, Forest Fairy Tale and etc.
I am eager to share knowledge about one wonderful place. This place is special, because everyone who gets on its slope gains a sense of absolute freedom. I was fond of rap and my best texts were born after a beautiful day on the slope. The daily subscription costs me $ 25, and a day spent on the slope cost no less than $ 50, since I have my equipment, if I need to rent a shell, I will have to lay out $ 13-20 from the top. However, I do not regret not a cent. Shymbulak worth hundreds of dollars.
This 3.5 km-long ski resort meet athletes from around the world in international winter sports competitions. From the slope, there are a dozen options for descending. It is just a godsend for a skier or snowboarder, which I am. Every detail is thought out here … you can go upstairs in a comfortable gondola if you are with your family, and if you have already put on your gear and do not intend to take them off, welcome to the chairlift or the rope tow.
After 3-4 hours of active leisure, you will surely want to eat and here again you have a huge choice of restaurants for every taste. Exquisite Italian, delicious Oriental and hearty American food will not leave you hungry.
I often noticed that it might snow in the city or it was cloudy, but after climbing to Shymbulak, the clouds stay below and you ride under the sun … The Shymbulak ski resort is my pride and pearl of Almaty.
