Hello, my name is Sheila. Born and raised in Brazil but from the world! Travel is my passion and whenever possible I’m on the road with my backpack (Currently living in Stockholm, Sweden).
I like to travel in backpack style, usually going through several cities in the same country, and trying to get to know as much of the country as possible (know about the food, the culture, the history, the people, etc).
This travel happened in 2018 and there were my husband (Bernardo) and my best friend (Felipe) and I. I set up the entire travel itinerary by myself, according to the places I was eager to visit, both of them just accepted and went with me! LOL
We started the trip through Lima, the capital of Peru. It was there where I ate the best ceviche of my life!
The second place was in Haucachina, Peru the village is an oasis in the middle of the desert, this was the first dessert I knew and where I practiced sandboard for the first time.
Then we went to Cusco, Peru, the city is beautiful, there the high altitude brought a bit of a headache, and that was when I chewed coca leaves for the first time. It is very bitter!
From there we started to visit the old cities of the Incas, we went to several, all close to Cusco.
As you can see, it’s very windy!
The next city was Agua Calientes, I didn’t like the city, we went on the city’s birthday and our hostel was next to the event place, the party happened until 5 am, the same time we woke up to go to Machu Picchu, I couldn’t even sleep.
We just spent the night there and went the next day to see the magical Machu Picchu, what a beautiful place, good energy, and amazing view of the mountains! I LOVED! In addition to visiting the ruins, we ventured up the Montaña Machu Picchu.
We spent the whole day there and at night we took a train back to Cusco and from there a bus to Puno, our last city in Peru.
In Puno we went to the Ilhas Flutantes de Uros, these islands are on Lake Titicaca, It´s an artificial island made with a species of native vegetation, each island belongs to a family. We were able to enter in the islands, visit the residents’ house, which is also made with this same vegetation, and we learned how everything works.
Well, these were the places I knew in Peru, about the places in Bolivia and Chile I’ll leave it for the next post!
Thanks for reading my post, I hope you enjoyed it!
