As part of One Accessibility advocacy, we shall share information about disability issues , inclusion and or accessibility features on Maps. Look out every week for this enlightening post.
Happy New Year Local Guides. I can’t believe 2021 is over already ! Last year I shared my Accessibility Goals for 2021 and I am glad that I could achieve them all in spite of the ups and downs that we all faced last year ! So I am really happy I could help others and learn more about Accessibility , Yay !!!
Here are my Accessibility goals for 2022 :
- Host / Be part of as many Accessibility related initiatives, meet-ups and webinars so as to gain and share knowledge regarding accessibility.
- Share Accessibility related posts on Connect to share the knowledge gained with my fellow Accessibility enthusiasts.
- Add more videos on Google Maps for places I visit as I feel that Videos are very important because they allow you to see AND hear what a place is like , specially for specially-abled people. This will help people make a decision on whether they should go to that place or not.
- Post more photos of shopfronts and business entrances on Google Maps so that people understand just by looking at the photos if the place is accessible or not. As I personally look at photos before I even read the reviews, I am sure and I hope that this will surely help others to be prepared for where they are planning to go.
- Continue mentioning Accessibility related features in my detailed reviews , Answer Accessibility related questions and do Map edits on Maps.
