My 2020 Local Guides achievements
I’m normally out running when I take my Local Guides photographs. As a result my running achievements are closely linked to my Local Guides activities.
In 2020 I ran the NY Half Marathon - well virtual half marathon, given the pandemic. You can find out more about 2020 running activity here:
During my preparation for the half marathon I took twenty images of local stores that I added to google maps along with a detailed review. Many of these stores are very personal to me as I shop regularly with my sons. I was particularly keen to share my review of Meeple Games where we enjoy regular in-store gaming events with friends.
In December 2020 I reached Local Guides Level 5 as a result!
What are my Local Guides Goals for 2021?
In 2021 I am hoping to run the full marathon distance and so I have double the opportunities to take images and share reviews.
I am especially lucky to have a city that has many attractive architectural features. As an example here is a beautiful image of Durham Cathedral shared by @Sarvesh1 which is the half way point of my current running route.
In reaching my goals I also considered the thoughtful post by @ErmesT shared recently by @KarenVChin reminding us thatLocal Guides is more than numbers, it’s about helping other people.
With all this in mind, I have decided on the following:
- Contribute every week to Google Maps with local independent stores
- Reach Level 6
- Contribute to virtual monthly meet ups
- Write a monthly Connect post
- Run the full marathon distance!
