My favorite place is surely the old areas around Jongro and Gwanghamun
My name is Emil and I have lived in Seoul for 13 years now I have visited most places, but I am interested in hearing from you where you would recommend, and maybe there will be some new areas to visit
That is a really awesome place as well Do you visit many places here in Seoul ? Have you been to Kim Ku memorial museum at hyochang park ? Its amazing, free and you can learn so much about korean modern history
@Emilkorea I was in Seoul last year for some vacation. I really like Hongdae a lot. The area never sleeps, and endless of (street) food stalls in the evening
@Emilkorea Interestingly, I didn’t see any buskers when I was there, which is weird. I didn’t go during the weekend though. Although I did see a lot of drunk people
I also like Itaewon. It’s very cool to walk up the hills and just look around the area. It’s very noticeable that the place is tailored mainly towards foreigners.
I do not like Itaewon as much, because it is not showing the real picture of how Korea is looking like, and I think that there are some amazingly local places that a more interesting for me. But My wife and I go to Itaewon for food and drinking coffee
Next time I have some good suggestions f or you, will I remember to post pictures

Historical places are nice and educational. Tourists should visit the markets. But to my mind Korean family life might be best experienced in a shoping mall: as an European citizen I’m always in awe about the enthusiasm of local people enjoying shopping, dining and computer games on Sundays. A special place for sure is Lotte tower with the adjacent Lotte mall.
Insider tip: in31st floor you’ll find nice restaurants with a fantastiv view of Seoul. In contrast to the observation desk no fees apply; just identify yourself at the help desk, you’ll get special admission tickets for free.
Thank you for posting and starting the discussion! I haven’t seen posts for South Korea or Seoul recently, so I hope lots of Local Guides will join and share thoughts, experience and ideas.
I haven’t been to South Korea but if I do someday, I’ll keep what you have shared here in mind.
Please, add some photos of the places you have mentioned so we all can have an idea.
My name is Ronja, I am studying screen acting in London at the moment. I have always wanted to visit South Korea, especially Seoul. The people there seem incredibly nice and the food just looks incredible. So I really want to visit there with my twinsister. I have even thought about staying there but I don’t know how hard it would be to find jobs?
How did you get to move there and why did you move?
