Berlin is a beautiful city located at the intersection of Eastern and Western Europe and still keeping the intersection of two social structures: socialism and communism. In addition, it is multicultural and diverse. I made my own list of places to visit in order to feel the atmosphere of this city.
- My number one on this list is the Brandenburg Gate. It is a symbol of the city, as well as a symbol of reunited Germany. Built on the principle of the Acropolis of Athens. In the vicinity of the Brandenburg Gate, many souvenirs are sold: key chains, Ampelmans, magnets, and textiles with symbols of Berlin. This visiting is absolutely free.
- In second place on my list is the Reichstag. The historic building of Berlin, reconstructed in 1999. Now there is the Bundestag. You can only visit the dome, as well as visits to the entire building with a guided tour in several languages. When registering for a visit, passport details are required.
- My third place is the Berlin TV Tower. This is a unique opportunity to look at Berlin from a bird’s eye view. Upstairs can be reached using a high-speed elevator. And there at an altitude of 207 meters to enjoy a beautiful view and dishes in the restaurant “Sphere”.
- Friedrichstadt-Palast is on my list in fourth place. At the moment, there is a Grand Show Vivid аnd it is worth seeing. Featuring more than 100 amazing artists on the world’s largest stage. Everything is impressive, music, costumes, dances, the physical form of artists, acrobatic performances. A visit to the show inspires and delights.
- Well, my last place is of course Gendarmenmarkt. Symmetric square, located between the French and German Cathedrals and the Berlin Dramatic Theater. The area is especially beautiful in winter when the Christmas Fair is located on it. Visiting the square is absolutely free, except for the time when the Christmas Fair takes place on it. At this time, the entrance costs 1 euro.
I wish everyone a great weekend in Berlin. It’s worth it.

Hi @katydarhel ,
Berlin looks amazing based on the photos you’ve shared, thanks! Have you been there before? Yous post is quite helpful to know what to explore in Berlin as I’ve never been there. What is your favorite thing about Berlin?
The last place on your list looks really interesting as well. It reminds me of Vienna’s Rathaus where they also have seasonal markets and other events throughout the year.

Hi @DanniS ,
thank you for your kind words, I am very pleased !!! Honestly, I lived in Berlin for three years and explored it far and wide. (Now I have returned to my homeland in Belarus.) Berlin, in my opinion, is an introverted city, which opens its soul not immediately and not to everyone. I will not say that Berlin immediately made a strong impression on me, but I loved it, having lived there for several years. Berlin is a combination of royal pomposity, soviet past, vintage bars and restaurants and Turkish Doner kebabs. I am particularly impressed with the smell of Berlin. This is a combination of the smell of the subway, aromatic coffee, a blooming garden (now in spring) and smelling soap coming from the shop “Lush.”
It is not surprising that the Gendarmenmarkt square reminded you of the Vienna’s Rathaus, because the Gendarmenmarkt square was built in the image of Piazza del Pollo in Rome, with twin churches decorated with domes.
I sincerely wish you to visit Berlin, because the most incompatible things are skillfully combined in it.
Have a nice day!!!
