Visapur Fort is a historic fort located in the Pune district of Maharashtra, India. Visapur Fort is that it has a huge carved stone called the “Dongar Killa” or “Vishrambaugwada” that weighs around 100 tons. This stone was used to build a step-well located near the fort called the “Pandavkada” or “Nageshwar Kund”.
It is believed that this step-well was built by the Pandavas during their exile and the Visapur Fort was used as a lookout point to keep a watch on the surrounding area. Today, the Visapur Fort and the Pandavkada step-well are popular tourist attractions in the region.
One unique detail about Visapur Fort is that it is believed to be connected to its twin fort, Lohagad, by an underground tunnel. The tunnel is said to have been used by the Maratha warriors to transport goods and ammunition between the two forts during battles. However, the tunnel has been closed off for safety reasons and is not open to the public.

By Road :
One can take a taxi or drive from Pune to Visapur Fort. The distance between Pune and Visapur Fort is around 65 km, and it takes around 2 hours to reach there. One can take the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and then take the Lonavala exit. From Lonavala, one can hire a taxi or take a local bus to reach the fort.
By Train :
The nearest railway station to Visapur Fort is Malavli Railway Station, which is around 7 km away. Malavli Railway Station is well-connected to Mumbai and Pune by local trains. From Malavli Railway Station, one can take a taxi or a local bus to reach the fort.
Once you reach the base village of Visapur Fort, you need to trek for around 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the fort. The trek is moderately difficult and is suitable for both novice and experienced trekkers.
