Museum of Corruption - Mezhyhirya Residence

The Mezhyhirya Residence is an estate in Ukraine where Viktor Yanukovych lived when he was Prime Minister and then President of Ukraine and is now a museum displaying Yanukovych’s luxurious lifestyle. This is one of the most striking and impressive places in Ukraine, also known as “Museum of Corruption”. A wander through the opulent grounds – totalling 137 hectares and costing hundreds of millions of dollars to create – gives visitors an idea of just how corrupt the Yanukovych regime had become.

Now “Mezhyhirya” is a national landscape park and museum. A huge, stunning, well-groomed area with beautiful flower beds, many plants, ponds, fountains, birds and animals. There are run rabbits, roam deer, swim swans and ducks. All of them are manual and you are even able to feed them.

Visiting this park you can take food with you and sit on the golf course, have a snack, relax, breathe fresh air and look at the overwhelming view of the Kiev Sea.

Here you are able to rent a bike, as the territory is very large, or to take an excursion on an electric car and go around all corners of the park in an hour, see all the sights, the promenade, the galleon, the guest house, etc.

Entrance to the park is paid. The cost is 150 UAH per adult and 50 UAH per child. The park is accessible for people in wheelchairs, there are wide entrances and exits, a large territory and a lot of space. There are free toilets at the entrance to the park. But they are not accessible for people with disabilities. There are also no parking lots for disabled people.

This is a great place to visit and sad at the same time. Park “Residence “Mezhyhirya”” shows the wealth of our presidents in comparison with the standard of living of our people.

And how do the presidents live in your country?

For whatever reasons it was built and whichever means adopted, the mansion is mesmerizing.

I am sure the view from the balconies across the front yard and the long view over the distant river must be breathtaking.

Thanks for sharing wonderful photos that bring out the best in this place @gandrabur_chik

Hi @gandrabur_chik , Unfortunately, most of the former republics of the USSR have a lot of corruption, as do these countries of the former Warsaw Pact. This is very sad indeed :disappointed:

Hi @gandrabur_chik

The name ‘Museum of Corruption’ is very awkward but thank you for sharing a story behind it.
It really looks so beautiful through your shared photos. The building, the garden, the lake & fountain all are very wonderful.

I enjoyed reading your story about this “Museum of Corruption”. It’s sad how leadership just goes to the head and corruption sneaks in for so many leaders around the world.
