We were at the 25th Mumbai Plant Show of MCGM at fhe Byculla Zoo today.
It was quite an event with crowds thronging it past few days forcing MCGM to extend the show by 2 days to 3 and 4 Feb, 2020. The visitors snaked through displays of lowering plants, floral and other plant arrangements and more.
The highlight of the event is the many models of Mumbai icons all made with flowers. The models include those of a BEST bus, a fisherman and his boat, the famous Mumbai Dabbawala and of course the Gateway of India.
Also on display were bonsai, cacti, succulents, vegetable plants, fruit trees and medicinal and aromatic plants. At the end of the shows there are stalls selling plants and other gardening supplies.
A stage at one corner has entertainment programmes on. The show is on through the day and the evening. Before today I never realized so many types of plants are grown at Mumbai. Plants displayed are from companies and government organizations like Railways.
