Multiple photos of the same subject?

I don’t understand how you can make so many points from taking photos of one subject multiple times?

I try to vary the images from one place.
But, I have seen other profile pictures of one subject appear duplicated so many times? Is this fare?

You should report those profiles @user_not_found in the Maps App. They will get cleaned up and will lose all their points. If you find particularly bad ones you can let me know via PM and I can escalate.

Hi @user_not_found

I would like to add that the guidelines for photos uploaded to Google Maps are very clear.

We are not allowed to upload the same photo to more than one place. And the same photo should only be uploaded once.

Also, near-duplicates should be avoided. So just changing the angle or zoom is not providing more information and should therefore also not be uploaded to Google Maps.

Let me know if you would like to see links to the relevant guidelines.

Cheers

Hi,

many thanks for your detailed information regarding duplicated images.
We all like photos and taking them but as points are awarded for one image you can’t be expected to earn them for sending the image multiple times.
Thanks again for explaining the guidelines.

It would be really helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply.

You have touched upon an important topic @user_not_found

The following are the some of the possible reasons.

  1. In the early days of LG journey, the two features become helpful to earn quick points.

Response to the queries “Know this place”.

Photo uploads.

Besides, although it’s expected to read the guidelines in depth before signing up for the program, many tend to overlook that.

  1. The photo upload utility can not evaluate whether a photo being posted is redundant or not, right at the time of uploading.

  2. Only a fraction of LG’s join Connect and then realise the finer nuances in contributions.

All that is resulting in a continued upload of redundant photos.

At present, there is no mechanism to communicate these wrongdoings directly to the concerned LG, through Maps.

Nevertheless, when we come across any such profile, we should report that. There are multiple ways to do so

→ Report each redundant photo. Though tedious, that helps
Report the entire profile as explained in the help desk article
→ If you can locate the person here on Connect, then send a polite private message highlighting the errors.
→ You can report such profiles here on Connect, which are indulging in excessive spamming or fraud. Of course, without disclosing the identity of such person. You will get a private message & in reply to that, you can provide the details.
→ Support the suggestions in the idea exchange seeking tools to identify redundant photos.
Here are some notable ones.
# Auto delete of duplicate photos

Algorithm to prevent Duplicate Photo/Video Uploads

# Implementation of the “Photo Clean-up” button
We may get these utilities at some date thus quickening up the pace of cleanup.
