Mughavoor Sree Maha Vishnu Temple

This is my first post on #temple challenge by @ShailendraOjha .

Mughavoor Sree Maha Vishnu Temple is located in Karipoor, Nedumangad, Thiruvananthapuram.

The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :

Uriyadi

At the Mughavoor Sree Mahavishnu Temple, Uriyadi is a vibrant and thrilling event celebrated during Shri Krishna Jayanti (Ashtami Rohini). This festive sport involves young participants attempting to break earthen pots suspended from a height using a long cane or stick, symbolizing the playful spirit of Lord Krishna. The event attracts a large number of devotees who cheer enthusiastically, adding to the festive atmosphere and communal joy of the celebration.

Meena Thiruvona Mahotsav

Meena Thiruvona Mahotsav at Mughavoor Sree Mahavishnu Temple in Karipoor, Nedumangadu, Thiruvananthapuram, is a grand annual festival celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm. This festival, observed during the Meena month on the Thiruvonam star, features elaborate rituals, special poojas, and vibrant cultural programs. Devotees from various regions gather to participate in the festivities, seeking the blessings of Lord Vishnu and experiencing the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of the temple.

Thottill vepp is another important ritual followed here on the 3rd day of Sapthaham.Couples without kids come here to do this ritual and also for seeking the blessings from Lord Krishna as the 3rd day of Sapthaham is considered as the birth of Krishna.Cradles are placed and inside the cradle there will be doll.

Mukhacharth
It refers to a ritual in Hinduism, specifically related to temples, where the face (or entire body) of an idol is anointed with sandal paste mixed with perfumes. This practice, also known as “Chandana Charth,” is a form of decoration and reverence for the deity. The anointing of the idol with sandal paste is done as a devotional offering and a way to beautify the deity. Typically, a paste made from sandalwood powder, perfumes, and other fragrant substances is used. 10 days of Sapthaham 10 avatharas of lord Vishnu(Matsya,Kurma,Varaha,Narasimha,Vamana,Parashurama,Rama,Krishna,Balarama,Kalki)

When we talk about sustainability, all the Pooja items are served on either leaf or in steel plates.

There is a small flower shop near to the temple in which we can get all the necessary pooja items.

Thank you @NandKK for your valuable comment :folded_hands:.I will be always present in the temple during the festival time. The Sapthaham yenjam tells us about the stories of lord krishna which is very beautiful to hear and I’ll watch uriyadi at night.Only boys can participate in uriyadi they will dress up like god krishna and try to break the pot which is being hanged and pulled by a senior citizen. All these gives a visual pleasure to our eyes.In kerala all the temples celebrate different festivals in the month of March.
