People search for motivation to do stuff. They read books, watch videos, eat and always try to be happy. In my case, I look for motivation around me. For instance, more than motivational videos, I get motivated through a kid in my locality who wakes up early in the morning and cleans his surroundings. And most importantly, I want to share my source of motivation through google posts.
One of my motivation is Panchanya women’s saving and credit cooperative limited. This is a cooperative house in Bhaktapur city of Nepal entirely led by women. It is functioning at the time when cooperative houses are seen as ‘money-eaters’ in the entire nation. Hundreds of cooperatives are shut down due to money-scandals. Many got jailed and the majority of culprits ran away from the country with people’s money and settled aboard.
This cooperative house, however, set a brilliant example. Despite scandals in the country, this women’s saving and credit-limited is booming due to transparency and honest work. It has created a job for many women in the locality who else would have been at home, jobless. It has also been felicitating young students with cash, certificate of felicitation and books who graduate high school with good grades. My mom, herself has a saving account here and guess what, we have already been able to save a decent amount of money. Many locals are saving money because the cooperative house is just 5-10min walk from our home. Its establishment has brought a subtle change in our locality through changing the perception of people to believe in saving, investing and growing business. I can proudly share that the subsistence business of my locality has transformed itself into a commercial one due to financial as well as technical support to local business by the cooperative.
The government of Nepal believes that cooperative houses are the real gems of the locality because banks cannot have a reach at the entire locality. The whole idea of cooperative houses is to increase the economy of the locality and help in the progressive development of the country.
Thanks to Panchanya for setting a great example for cooperative houses that they can help in the progress of the nation with honesty and hard work. Having said that, nobody in the nation recognizes these small act of progress that makes our society more strong and unified. My initiative on google map is to share these sorts of local stories that inspire people including me myself.
