My name is John and I’m a Level 9 Local Guide living in Bowmanville, ON Canada.
I discovered the Local Guide program by sheer coincidence and it was one of the best things that ever happened to me.
I noticed when I googled a business; near the bottom it said, “Know this place” and I have been a Local Guide ever since that day.
The Local Guides program has had a huge impact in my life in the last three years. I’ve connected with many small business owners because of the program. They’ve started referring to me as the Google guy. One of my favorite things to do is take a really good picture of the inside/outside of the business and hope that it gets featured on Google. Some of my featured photos have over a million views each. I also go out to new and different restaurants because of the Local Guides program. I’m always discovering more of what’s around me and what my area has to offer. This is why I love it.
My experience as a Local Guide has given me the strength and confidence to be a much better person in my everyday interactions. I never realised just how much I’ve changed being a Local Guide. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve actually gotten noticed by my previous employer for my photos of the business on Google. They asked me to take more photos; because they were going to pick one and put it on the side of a bag for a golf tournament. That felt really good! I still have the bag today.
