I started my journey in Google Maps as a local guide less than a year ago. Within this time, I reviewed many places, verified a lot of facts, answered the question, but nothing pleased me as much as sharing photos did. I have an innate passion for photography, that might be the main reason behind this.
To me, a photo can connect anyone with the subjects of the photo despite distance and time difference. It can connect you with nature, people and even with non-living objects. Luckily, I am from that part of the world where nature is splendid and the beauty changes from season to season. Flowers bloom in the trees and the colorful birds’ dances from one tree to another. This continues from dawn to the evening. It pleases me and wakes my aesthetic sense. I try to capture every moment in my smartphone, upload it in Google Maps so that others can also see and enjoy it. To me, not only nature but everything is important because their presence makes the place what it is now. It may be the old building or the lonely road or the little shop-keeper or the women who enter our campus just to collect the broken old branches of trees. All of these I try to upload because, without these, the people, lifestyle, and culture of the place are not known properly.
I upload the photos spontaneously without any expectations. But it doesn’t mean I have not got anything. How can I forget that evening when my friend called me and said,” Bro, search IIT Kgp on Google Maps.” Immediately I searched for the same and I was just shocked. The feature photo was the one that I uploaded a few days back. This was a magic moment for me.I realized my contributions are really significant to others. The Link of the photo is here- IIT Kharagpur Photo
It is said that “ A picture is worth a thousand words.” People, culture, lifestyle-all are reflected in a non-moving existence. Isn’t this fascinating? My Photos may not be of high quality, but it does not lack enthusiasm and interests from my side and at least it fulfills someone’s demand partly. And when I realize that my shared photo is important to others and it helps them somehow, my enthusiasm enhances and makes it more interesting.
