Most interesting thing I've done as a Local Guide: What is it?

Q: What is it?

What is the best way to answer that question?

A:

What better way indeed, right?

I am a true believer of the widely famous quote ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’

You may never know if that far off place you picked for your first date is what you actually thought it must be like or you may never know about that ‘one of a kind’ inclined racing corner in that new racing track that finally opened in your city, if not for some local guide who posted it for you

Adding quality and helpful photos not only makes a place more marketable but also helps people know what more ( or less :stuck_out_tongue: ) a place has got to offer, and that is definitely invaluable to any business.

A hotel called Dorsett Tsuen Wan Hotel in HongKong that we booked for 3 was, well, not roomy enough for 3. That is definitely some data no hotel or travel agent would want to disclose. A couple of my friends who wanted to book the same hotel for 3, later didn’t want to, seeing the images I had posted. That made me glad. I saved a few folks from a not so good experience. Yaay! :man_dancing:t4:

This picture that I added ( this had become the place’s main thumbnail for sometime ) of a then newly opened resto bar Cycle Gap in our area made the restaurant manager come up to me, shake my hands firmly and say a big thank you, for he mentioned that customers kept pouring in mainly because of what they saw on Google maps. I was glad that my small thumb that clicked this photo, helped the business in a big way! :+1:t3:

Similarly, the following image of a place called The Fast Food ( Parota Point ) shows that it not only serves Parotta (an Indian bread ), but offers a wide range of South Indian cuisines too!

That could definitely help somebody like me who initially thought that it only serves fast food and parotta!

Well, my list of stories can go on, on explaining how meaningful and at the same time interesting it is to add beautiful pictures of places and know that your photos are helping a lot of folks out there, all the way from business owners to customers.

Helping others without any expectation, profit or a hidden agenda is one of the purest and most content forms of human action. Helping strangers? That takes purity and contentment to another level.

Thank you Google Maps for the opportunity to make a contribution :slightly_smiling_face:
