According to tradition, City Day in Moscow is celebrated on the first weekend of September, when the city’s inhabitants, returning from vacation, get together and celebrate the capital’s past year. These days, various cultural and sporting events take place on the streets and in parks, squares, and stadiums. Famous artists take part in concerts on Red Square, Gorky Park, Luzhniki. Famous athletes can be seen at performances and competitions. Last year (2018), I decided to take a walk Luzhniki complex on a City Day and I did not make a mistake.
Luzhniki was reconstructed for the 2018 FIFA World Cup final and hosted the holiday. I was full of impressions from the matches of the last tournament and I was waiting for the extension of the sports festival. To make a choice was not an easy problem for this weekend in September, because in Luzhniki you could see mountain bikers, motorcyclists, fitness classes, aeromodelling and much more. I decided to watch the incredible elements performed by BMX and MTB bikers on the track. BMX, MTB (mountain bike, extreme) will be in the Tokyo OG 2020 program, as the presenter said. It will be interesting to see sportsmen at the Olympics. I made up my mind not to change the place of the celebration this year and went to Luzhniki again. What awaits me this year?
It was warm, sunny Saturday in the sports complex. An interesting program prepared by the organizers were waiting for gathered Moscovites and guests of the capital. Football, streetball, table tennis, chess, fitness - these are all competitions and venues on which guests of the festival could play. And not a single site was empty, but there were no crowds, no overloaded events.
I continued on my way through the park next to the stadium and saw an archery competition - the final of the 2019 World Cup. At the stadium, equipped for the competition of shooters, there was an opportunity to learn weapons such as a bow. In addition to explaining the classic bow video, visitors could take the bow and shoot arrows.
How is your City Day celebrated? I will be waiting with interest for your stories and photos.
