Morning Walker's Paradise – Lalbagh Botanical Garden

South Bengaluru enjoys the presence of this heavenly piece of earth, which is elegantly designed, landscaped and holding natural aspects intact and thus making Lalbagh (Lalbagh Botanical Garden) a morning Walker’s paradise!

Bengaluru city is choked with vehicular pollution and dust and yet over 1,000 species of trees, plants, flora and lawns including some older than 100 years gigantic trees give much-needed greenery in the 240 acres unmatched landscape and maintenance.

In the year 1874, what started as 45 acres Mughal Gardens has now become a 240 acres earthly paradise with flora, lawns, lake, ponds, and huge rock and keeps every walker happy and healthier! The garden is very well maintained with intricate water and irrigation systems and all the centuries-old trees are labeled for easy identification and admiration. The garden holds two flowers shows every Jan 26 and every Aug 15 as part of Republic and Independence Days celebrations! Tens of thousands flock there during these awesome flowers shows. Lalbagh has four gates – East, West, South and North and these greatly help and give easy access, parking and the whole in and out flow management.

Easily couple of thousand walkers goes to Lalbagh every morning and on weekend that number jumps dramatically!

The garden has a lake, a pond and over 20 other attractions!

Hey note! Lalbagh is a plastic free! Lalbagh also holds horticulture training to spread the knowledge and expertise.

On second and fourth weekends i.e., including both Saturdays and Sundays, “Janapada Jaatre” is held and artists coming from all over the state of Karnataka perform Folk Fair, Folk Dance, Folk Music and Folk Plays. A wonderful opportunity to witness, learn and appreciate the richness of the tradition!

Take a walk alone, or with friends or family, you will enjoy every corner, every trail, the breeze, pleasantness and many more. And best time to enter this heavenly place is around 6am on any day! Happy Walking in Lalbagh!

Great photos and descriptions.

Been here many times years ago. Now too far from Bellandur to go regularly. Wish we had great places like this around here too. Just buildings with a few trees and roads is not the way forward.

Thanks Tushar. Still can hit on Sunday morning, and it takes about 20 minutes to 25 minutes if we leave at 5:45am from Adarsh Palm Retreat. Once a week or alternate weeks is not a bad idea. After all the morning walk, can still hit to MTR for an awesome South Indian Breakfast through main gate exit!
